OVERVIEW
This video walks you through setting up DTF Station Pilot software in five structured steps. The footage uses a mix of Prestige R1 and XL2 printers, but the setup process applies broadly across models.
STEP 1
Downloading Pilot Software
1) DTF Station Pilot is required to communicate with your DTF printer.
2) The software is PC-only and does not support Mac or tablet PCs.
3) Microsoft Surface Pro is considered a tablet PC and may not work correctly.
4) Recommended system requirements:
- Windows 11 or later
- Intel i5 or i7 CPU, 2.6 GHz or higher
- At least 500 GB of free storage
- SSD preferred over HDD
- Minimum 8 GB RAM (more is recommended)
5) Locate the quick start guide PDF from the included USB drive or your dealer.
6) Open the quick start guide and click on Important Resources.
7) Download the DTF Station Pilot software version that matches your printer model.
8) Check the serial number sticker on your printer.
9) Printers manufactured before December 2024 may require motherboard and firmware upgrades.
10) Download the motherboard upgrade package and firmware files if required.
11) Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall software or whitelist the installer to prevent blocking.
12) Confirm the installer is present in your downloads folder.
13) Verify your computer has an Ethernet connection ready for printer communication.
14) Laptops without Ethernet ports will require an Ethernet adapter.
STEP 2
Installing Pilot Software
1) Double-click the downloaded .exe installer file.
2) Follow on-screen instructions.
3) Accept license terms.
4) Allow installation of Microsoft Visual C++ and required dependencies.
5) Each installation step should take under one minute.
6) If installation appears stalled, check the taskbar for hidden pop-up prompts.
7) Once installed, rename the program icon (example: “R1”).
8) Launch DTF Station Pilot.
9) A blinking red connection icon means the printer is not yet communicating.
10) The light bulb icon indicates errors or warnings.
11) Clicking the light bulb opens the log tab for diagnostics.
STEP 3
Connecting Printer and Network Setup
1) Connect the Ethernet cable and power on the printer.
2) Open Windows settings and search for Ethernet.
3) Identify the correct Ethernet connection by unplugging and reconnecting the cable.
4) In Pilot, go to:
- Advanced
- Admin Menu
- Network
5) Select the correct Ethernet adapter.
6) Enter a local IP address that matches the server IP except for the last two digits.
- Example base IP: 192.168.127.xx
- Do not use 10 for the last two digits
- Example used: 16
7) Click Set, then OK.
8) Wait 5–10 seconds for parameters to load.
9) Successful connection shows solid green indicators.
10) If parameters fail to load, firmware or motherboard updates are required.
11) If connection stays red, try:
- A different Ethernet cable
- A different Ethernet adapter
- A different IP ending (17 or 18)
12) Contact DTF Station support if issues persist.
STEP 4
Changing Language and Setting Port
1) If the bottom-left indicator is blinking red:
- Go to the last main tab on the right
- Open the last subtab
- Select the first icon to connect the printer
2) Choose the correct Ethernet port from the dropdown.
3) Enter the correct IP address (matching server IP except final digits).
4) Save settings and click OK.
5) Wait for a solid green connection indicator.
6) Select the second icon from the top.
7) Choose English from the language dropdown.
8) Apply and confirm.
9) Close and reopen Pilot to finalize language settings.
10) Contact DTF Station technicians if language or connection issues persist.
STEP 5
Setting Parameters
1) Open DTF Station Pilot.
2) Match all parameters shown in the instructional video.
3) Ensure Spot Color is unchecked to prevent conflicts with DigiRIP settings.
4) Adjust Print Start Position based on film loading:
- Typically between 50–70 mm if film is centered
5) Save all settings.
6) Press the Home button to confirm the carriage returns correctly.
7) Pin Pilot to the taskbar for quick access.
8) Close and reopen Pilot to confirm stable connection.
COMPLETION
Pilot software setup is complete.
Proceed to the next setup video for continued configuration.
OVERVIEW
This procedure covers filling ink bottles, performing ink charge cycles, running head cleanings, and completing a nozzle check after Pilot software has been successfully connected to the printer.
REQUIRED ITEMS
- Ink bottles
- Protective gloves
- Utility knife
INK ALARM OVERVIEW
1) A beeping alarm and flashing red light indicate low ink.
2) Ink levels can also be monitored on the touchscreen display.
3) To mute the alarm, press the silver button located on the printer.
INK PREPARATION
1) Shake all ink bottles for 5–10 seconds.
2) White ink and varnish ink must be shaken for a full 60 seconds.

FILLING INK BOTTLES
1) Remove the bottle cap.
2) Using a utility knife, cut:
- One large pour hole
- One smaller vent hole for airflow
3) Pour ink until the alarm light turns solid red.
4) Confirm ink level on the touchscreen, especially for white ink.
WHITE INK CIRCULATION
1) Twist the white ink circulation knob clockwise to activate circulation.
2) On the touchscreen, switch to manual mode.
3) Allow stirring and filling to run for at least 60 seconds.
4) Switch back to auto mode.
5) This moves white ink toward the damper and circulates it back to the bottle.
ENVIRONMENT & VACUUM SETTINGS
1) Turn on the air purifier and set it between 40–60%.
2) Adjust as needed based on your workspace.
3) On the printer control panel, set vacuum intensity.
- For color prime film: intensity level 3–5
INK CHARGE PROCESS
1) Perform ink charge cycles as needed.
2) Typical setup requires 2–3 ink charge cycles.
3) Each cycle runs approximately 30 seconds.
4) Ink charge can be cancelled at any time by tapping the screen.
5) Refill inks if alarm reappears during this process.
HEAD CLEANING
1) Press the clean button 2–3 times.
2) This performs standard print head cleanings.
PRINT START POSITION SETUP
1) Open the printer cover.
2) Locate where the film begins on the bed.
3) Read the measurement above the carriage rail.
- Example: 6.5 cm
4) Close the printer cover.
5) Open Pilot software on the computer.
6) Go to Settings → Print Start Position.
7) Enter the value in millimeters.
- Example: 6.5 cm = 65 mm
8) Save the setting.
NOZZLE CHECK
1) Press the nozzle check button on:
- The printer touchscreen, or
- Pilot software
2) Inspect the printed nozzle check pattern.
3) A good nozzle check has at least 90% of nozzle lines firing correctly.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1) If more than 10% of nozzle lines are missing:
- Run another ink charge
- Perform additional head cleanings
2) If the same channel is consistently missing:
- Contact DTF Station technical support
NEXT STEP
If the nozzle check is clean, proceed to the calibration process.
