2. Assembly

Prestige R1 — Assembly & Initial Function Test Guide

Step 1: Preparation & Pre-Checks (00:00–00:30)

  • Confirm you have watched the Quick Start Software Installation video before proceeding.
  • Prepare the following tools:
    • Screwdriver
    • Allen wrench set
    • Scissors
    • Utility blade
  • Inspect the printer box for external damage.
  • If damage is found, do not open the box.
  • Contact a DTF Station technician before proceeding.

Step 2: Locate Serial Number & Warranty Info (00:00:30–01:01)

  1. Locate the silver CE sticker on the outside of the box.
  2. Record the serial number for warranty registration.
  3. Complete warranty registration within one week of receiving the printer.
  4. Failure to register may shift the warranty start date to the ship date.
  5. Conditional print head warranty may be affected.

Step 3: Unboxing & Packaging Handling (01:01–01:40)

  1. Remove pallet straps and pallet wrap.
  2. Keep the original box and pallet for at least 6 months (required for warranty coverage).
  3. Carefully open the box using a blade.
  4. Take photos of internal packaging in case any items are missing.
  5. If any required items are missing:
  • Stop installation.
  • Contact your dealer before continuing.
  • Remove and store all styrofoam contents safely.

Step 4: Removing the Printer from the Box (01:40–02:45)

  1. The printer weighs approximately 87 lbs.
  2. Use two people to lift the printer from the sides while a third person slides the box away.
  3. Remove the plastic bag carefully.
  4. Check inside the plastic bag for loose components (e.g., waste ink bottle).
  5. Test the waste ink bottle:
  • Press the alarm button.
  • Flip the bottle upside down to confirm proper function.

Step 5: Placement & Environment Requirements (02:45–03:19)

Place the printer:

  • In a cool, dry area

Recommended environment:

  • Humidity: 30–40%
  • Temperature: 70°F / 21°C
  • Place the printer on a sturdy, level table.

An unstable surface may cause print errors or shaking.

If using an optional stand, follow the Print Pro Table Setup video.

Step 6: Installing Media Brackets (03:19–06:18)

  1. Locate the bag containing 16 medium Allen screws.
    1. Align the media brackets at the back of the printer.
  2. Ensure the bracket legs rest flat on the table.
  3. Insert all 16 screws without tightening.
  4. Once all screws are in place:
    1. Tighten them evenly to level the brackets.

Step 7: Installing the Film Holder Rod (06:18–07:45)

  1. Locate the film holders.
  2. Loosen the knob screws.
  3. Thread the film holder rod into the media bracket.
  4. Center the rod and tighten the screws.
    1. Do not overtighten (may bend the rod).
  5. Ensure the following components are perfectly level:
    1. Printer
    2. Media brackets
    3. Film holder rod
  6. Improper leveling can cause film shifting during printing.

Step 8: Remove Shipping Materials (07:45–08:30)

  1. Remove all protective tapes and films from the printer.
  2. Unlock and remove the carriage L-bracket.
    1. Save the bracket and screws for future transport or service.

4. Loading Ink & Media

Prestige R1 — Media Loading & Print Start Position Setup

Step 1: Media Handling & Inspection (00:00–00:33)

  • The printable side of the film is the outer side of the roll.
  • Avoid touching the printable surface excessively.
  • Wearing gloves is recommended to protect the media coating.
  • Inspect the media and confirm it is straight before loading.

Step 2: Mounting the Media Roll (00:33–01:46)

  1. Load the media roll onto the media holder wheels.
  2. Insert the core firmly into the left media holder, pressing it in as tight as possible.
  3. Repeat the process for the right media holder.
  4. Center the media roll with the printer bed.
  5. Tighten the media holder knob securely.
  6. Turn the pinch roller adjuster (right side) clockwise to raise the pinch rollers.
  7. Feed the media under the metal rod as shown in the video.
  8. Re-center the media on the printer bed if needed.

Step 3: Tensioning & Aligning the Media (01:46–02:43)

  1. Move the media guides outward.
  2. Pull the media forward from the back toward the printer bed.
  3. Once there is enough slack at the front:
    1. Hold the media flat on the bed with your left hand
    2. Pull the roll backward with your right hand to create tension
  4. Inspect the metal rod area:
    1. Tension should be even on both sides
    2. Media roll should be straight and flush
  5. Adjust alignment as needed.

Step 4: Locking the Media & Setting Guides (02:43–03:16)

  1. While holding the media on the bed with your left hand:
    1. Turn the pinch roller adjuster counterclockwise to lock the media
  2. Ensure:
    1. Media stays flat on the bed
    2. Media remains outside the guides
  3. Gently push the media guides inward.
    1. Do not press tightly against the media
    2. Guides prevent bunching, not alignment
  4. Improper loading or uneven leveling may cause:
    1. Media shifting
    2. Potential head crashes during printing

Step 5: Setting the Print Start Position (03:16–03:48)

  1. Check the print start position using the measurement strip on the printer.
  2. Identify the distance from the left side to the start of the media.
    1. Example in video: 6 cm
  3. Open DTF Station Pilot.
  4. Go to Settings.
  5. Set Print Start Position:
    1. Conversion rule: 1 cm = 10 mm
    2. Example: 6 cm → 60 mm
  6. Save the setting.

Step 6: Nozzle Check & Fine Adjustment (03:48–End)

  1. Close the printer cover.
    1. A cover-open error will prevent printing.
  2. Perform a nozzle check.
  3. Compare the nozzle pattern to the example shown in the video.
  4. Perform additional cleanings if needed.
  5. Fine-tune print start position:
    1. If nozzle pattern prints on the media guide → Increase the value
    2. If nozzle pattern prints too far from the guide → Decrease the value
  6. Typical print start position when media is centered:
    1. 40–60 mm

Result

Media is properly loaded, tensioned, centered, and the print start position is correctly set for safe and consistent printing.
